Is Telehealth Right For You?
Is telehealth the right solution for you? If you value convenience, less time commuting, and the comfort of familiar surroundings, read on. When hectic schedules and long commute times are an issue, it can feel like a relief to know that this is one appointment you can take in the comfort of your home. How does it work?
- When you book an appointment, you will receive a link for an online video chat from our highly secure health-focused telehealth provider Jane App.
- Appointments can be online or by telephone - it is your choice.
- We ask you to find a private spot for your appointment and recommend a good Wi-Fi source for online appointments. In case of any computer issues on either end, please have a phone handy and we will just call you for a phone appointment.
The use of telehealth for counselling has been well studied, and one thing that we know is that for those who choose it, telehealth/online counselling is a great option with very similar benefits to in-person counselling.
Who shouldn't use telehealth?
The obvious answer is that if you prefer in-person sessions, that is likely the best option for you, but we all know that there are a lot of things that make in-person meetings very challenging such as transportation times and cost, time off of work, childcare and other obligations. If this is your situation then please consider trying a free 15-minute consultation to see what you think.
In some situations, telehealth is not optimal. If you are in crisis, in great distress, or if you have experienced a recent trauma it may be better for you to see what in-person services are available in your area. Your safety and well-being are of the greatest importance!
Please contact us and we will work with you to determine if telehealth/online counselling is a suitable fit for you.
