BOOK WITH RICHELLE

Navigating life's tumultuous waters, especially when responsibilities and stressors converge, can be overwhelming.

I understand the delicate balance between personal challenges and concerns for loved ones. In these moments, having a compassionate listener is crucial.

I've committed myself to being that supportive presence, helping individuals unravel their thoughts and discover the wisdom within. My journey into the helping profession is grounded in the belief that, during tough times, we need someone who listens sincerely and helps us recognize our own truths and wisdom.

At Silverspring Counselling, we recognize that you are the expert in your life, and I'm here to collaboratively address the challenges that matter most to you. I offer practical strategies that can help without adding too much extra weight to your load. With a wealth of experience, I've connected with people facing the toughest of times. I take training seriously and integrate evidence-based approaches in my practice. In addition, at Silverspring Counselling, we're genuine individuals who empathize with you. Sharing your story with someone who listens and provides reflective insights can illuminate solutions that you might not have considered on your own.

One of my primary goals is to offer support to individuals and families managing OCD, especially those caring for a child or youth with OCD, depression, ADHD, or other challenging issues. I am currently undergoing training specialized with the International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation and I aim to enhance my expertise in this area. Recognizing the energy constraints of caregivers, I offer online evening and Saturday appointments to try to support people with busy schedules.

A bit about my background - After years as a stay-at-home parent, I pursued my BSW and worked as a hospital social worker for over a decade. Dealing with individuals and families from diagnosis to palliative care, I gained extensive experience within the healthcare system. As a parent of a child with an anxiety disorder, I get the challenges of being a caregiver when our kids are struggling. I was lucky to contribute to the Parent Advisory Council for Foundry Kelowna. This advocacy work fueled my decision to return to school and earn my MSW, driven by a desire to support other caregivers navigating a complex and sometimes frustrating system. I've had the opportunity to work with individuals and families at all stages and phases in time. I highly value my lived experiences as a caregiver, complementing my commitment to evidence-based, culturally aware care.

My continuous investment in training includes Emotional Focused Family Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety, Trauma Informed Care, Suicide Intervention Skills, Couples Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, IOCDF Foundation training for OCD, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Intuitive Eating and Gottman Method . These diverse approaches enable me to offer comprehensive support tailored to your unique needs.
